Welcome! to the Home of Keep Odessa Beautiful

"to empower individuals to take greater responsibility for enhancing their community environment."

Keep Odessa Beautiful began our campaign to promote public awareness, environmental improvement, and education programs for litter prevention in 1985, the beneficiaries being the residents of Odessa and Ector County. To date, programs have been put into place focused on tourism and economic development in hopes of attracting new persons and to be visually impacting as well. Our organization has steadily evolved to become affiliates of both     since 1994 and since 1988.

Initially named the "Clean City Consortium" through the Chamber of Commerce Clean City Committee, the consortium was later renamed the "Greater Odessa Litterbusters" and in 1988, became incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In 1994, the name was changed to 'Keep Odessa Beautiful' and remains the name today. Our mission has consistently and effectively addressed the safety and health of all citizens, and promoted public education on the importance of minimizing solid waste by encouraging all citizens to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, and "to empower individuals to take greater responsibility for enhancing their community environment."

Keep Odessa Beautiful promotes and coordinates litter prevention programs and community cleanups, the goal being public education on the importance of waste reduction and the conservation of natural resources. We strive to beautify areas of the city through landscaping projects, tree planting, and art murals. We also work to provide programs and public education on the importance of conserving our environment's natural resources: water, air, trees, and general ecology. By working to support our mission, Keep Odessa Beautiful maintains the guiding principals: that the acceptance of individual responsibility is essential for the enhancement of our community, and that education is the foundation for responsible individual action towards the protecting our environment.
